How You Can Help

Childhood is a time of endless horizons, when the world unfolds in all of its wonders. But children get sick. Fevers, runny noses and ear infections are bound to happen. However, today in California thousands children lack access to basic health care services. They are uninsured and most of them do not qualify for government-sponsored health care programs. Many of these children come from families with hard-working parents who appreciate the value of basic health care for their children. They are the parents who turn to CaliforniaKids for help.

Our Promise
Founded in 1992, CaliforniaKids is an independent non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. CaliforniaKids is dedicated to providing access to comprehensive primary health care for uninsured children living in California. Its services are available to almost every child that is ineligible for existing government programs.

Through the generous support of businesses, foundations, individuals, community organizations, and select health care plans, CaliforniaKids has helped more than 65,000 children receive the care they need and deserve. However, many children still remain without healthcare coverage. CaliforniaKids promise to these children and their families is to find solutions so that every child in California has access to the quality health care services they deserve.

Our Program
Children enrolled in CaliforniaKids receive medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health care. To cover the costs of these benefits, parents contribute a small premium each month and CaliforniaKids contributes the balance. The total cost of health care coverage for one child is $624 per year. All administrative costs for the program are donated by local health care plans, including Blue Cross of California, SafeGuard dental and vision, Mc Kesson HBOC and the Hollman Family Counseling, Inc. Therefore, every dollar contributed to CalifornaiKids is used to cover the cost of health care for a child.

Today, CaliforniaKids provides health care benefits to approximately 9,000 children. We know there are thousands more still in need of basic health care and we remain committed to our mission. Our ability to keep our promise to California’s most vulnerable children depends on the generous support of people like you.
